A PSA from the BFFs

in Daily, Dogs, Unsolicited Advice

This is Olive and Sherry, reporting from the scene. The scene being the couch, where we’re lounging after a hike along the river. It’s what we do on Sundays with our moms.

Know what else we do? We go for long walks around the neighborhood. We jump in the car whenever we hear “dog park.” We go bonkers over a $2 toy and are mesmerized by peanut butter-stuffed Kongs (see exhibit A). We also make kids laugh, are pretty great running partners, and bring an all-out dose of stress-relieving fun to the scene at hand.

You know what dogs who come from breeders do? Pretty much the same thing.

So this is O&S, signing off and reminding you: Don’t breed or buy while homeless animals die. Adopt! And give a dog a chance.

1 C frozen organic bananas • potassium
1 C plain organic almond milk • vitamin E
Scoop of Vanilla Vega Protein Powder • iron

Four-Pawed Running Partners

August 10, 2010

I owe my first bout of tolerable running to a foster dog named Grace. She was a runner all right. Only problem was, if she ever got loose, she’d keep on running, and running, and running.

Et Tu, Coffee?

August 4, 2010

Sometimes, nutrition writers put it so perfectly (or disgustingly) that it sets you straight for life.
Dr. Barnard, describing how chicken processing baths are not unlike “a tub of fecal soup,” comes to mind.

Tradition? Bullshit!

July 29, 2010

I spent a year living and working in Spain, and I can’t say I left there deeply in love with the country. Maybe its shoe stores, but definitely not its cuisine—and most definitely not its apparent love of bull torture.
